Bay Tree cottage is a charming, traditional, semi-detached country cottage located in the small hamlet of Butterstone, mid way between Dunkeld and Blairgowrie. This is a little outside of the area we usually cover for our cottages but I just could not resist taking this one on as it is such a cute little cottage, full of character and charm. The cottage garden is beautiful and there is a lovely little summer house which is the perfect spot to relax with a good book whilst listening the the bird song.
The cottage consists of 2 bedrooms, sleeping 4, which are upstairs. One king room and one twin room. Downstairs there is a beautiful L-shaped dining kitchen with patio doors opening on to the garden, a cosy TV/family room with open fire and a second sitting room with a wood burning stove. The bathroom is also downstairs and has a pretty traditional cast iron roll top bath with a hand held shower mixer tap, basin and toilet. Dogs are very welcome and the garden is secure, although we do advise that dogs are supervised in the garden.
The pretty village of Dunkeld sits on the banks of the River Tay and is only a 10 minute drive from the cottage. The village offers a lovely selection of shops including a small Co-op grocery store, Deli, Hardware shop, gift shops and a range of restaurants and cafes. There are some wonderful walks in the area including along the banks of the Tay. The focal point of the village is the beautiful cathedral which is definitely worth a visit.
Blairgowrie is a traditional Highland town and offers a wide variety of shops, supermarkets, banks, restaurants and places of interest. It is just a 15 minute drive from Bay Tree Cottage.
The area around Butterstone offers some wonderful scenery and one place that has to be on your to-do list is The Loch of The Lowes which is a Scottish Wildlife Trust centre, just 5 minutes away. Here, in spring, you can see Osprey nesting and rearing their chicks as well as lots of other wildlife. Butterstone Loch offers fishing and there are golf courses at Dunkeld and Blairgowrie. The drive to Aberfeldy is only 30 minutes and there is an abundance of activities and attractions on offer here.
The city of Perth is just a 25 minute drive away and offers great shopping, theater, Concert Hall, museums, leisure centre, Ice Rink, Castles, Racecourse, parks and numerous festivals and events throughout the year.
