Verdi Cottage is the sister of Puccini Cottage at Auchanross House in the conservation village of Strathtay. The cottages have been created by converting an old steading in the grounds of Auchanross House. The location is wonderful, with the golf course only a 1 minute walk away and other local facilities such as the village shop and Post Office, Inn on the Tay restaurant and bar and Highland Chocolatier all within an easy walk of the cottages.
Verdi is a gorgeous little cottage which sleeps 2 and is dog friendly. There is also a day bed in the dressing room which is suitable for a young child under the age of 10. Like Puccini which sleeps 4, Verdi is dog friendly.
The living area is all open plan and has been beautifully designed with comfort and style in mind. There is a wood burning stove, flat screen TV with Sky and a DVD player. The kitchen area has everything you need including a microwave, dishwasher, oven and hob and fridge/freezer. There is a shared washing machine in one of the outbuildings for use by guests of both cottages. The main bathroom is downstairs and is very spacious, with a bath and separate shower cubicle. Upstairs there is the master bedroom with a king size, oak framed bed. There is a separate dressing room with built in wardrobes too. Between these two rooms is a small shower room with wc and basin.
Outside there is a parking area and the main paved courtyard. There is a private garden area for Verdi Cottage and guests are also very welcome to use the large gardens for the main house, which extend down to the banks of the River Tay. At the rear of the cottage, there is a shed which guests can use to store bikes, golf clubs etc.
Within the conservation village of Strathtay there is a village shop and post office, Inn on the Tay restaurant and bar, Highland Chocolatier and opening in the summer of 2018 is the new Ballintaggart Restaurant which will be a fabulous fine dining experience. White water rafting is also available on the famous Grandtully rapids. Strathtay 9 hole golf course is just a 1 minute walk from the cottage. There are lots of great walks from the door including a walk over the hill to Pitlochry and a riverside walk to Aberfeldy. Both of these towns have an excellent selection of shops and attractions on offer. To find out more about the location, visit our The Area page.
